Oregon Frequently Asked Questions
We will send you detailed information about the Adventure in a Pre-Departure Packet once you register.
Who will be our Guides and Wine Host?
You
will have two professional Zephyr Adventures guides on this tour. Your
Wine Host will be one of the staff members of the Boulder Wine Merchant.
Who will be the other participants?
Because
this tour is being organized in cooperation with The Boulder Wine
Merchant, most participants will be from the Boulder area and customers
of the wine shop. We expect a wide range of ages and a mix of couples,
solo travelers, and friends traveling together. Most of our Adventures
start as a group of diverse people and end as one big group of friends,
so joining us as a solo traveler is not only common but a great way to
meet other active wine travelers.
What is included in the trip price?
Included
in the trip price are double occupancy accommodations, dinners,
breakfasts, all activities, local transportation, van support, Zephyr
guides, your Wine Host, and daily wine tastings. Not included is
transportation to and from the tour location, lunches, personal
expenditures, and drinks/dessert at dinner.
What is the weather going to be like?
The
average high temperature in August in the wine areas of Oregon is 80
degrees Fahrenheit, while the average lows are in the 50s. Plus, while
western Oregon does get its share of rain, July and August are the
driest months. So, expect hot, sunny days with little chance of rain.
What is the best way to get to the Tour and where do we meet?
We
meet in Eugene, Oregon and depart from Portland. So you should fly into
Eugene and out of Portland. We will provide you with detailed arrival
and departure information after you book the tour.
What should I do if I want to extend my vacation in the area?
We don't visit Portland at all our tour and would highly recommend stay
an extra day in this city. If you would like to extend your vacation
even longer, two fantastic trips within Oregon are the coast and the
Bend area. The Oregon Coast is reknowned for its waves, beaches, and
cute small towns. Bend, located in central Oregon, is a great outdoors
town and a center for mountain biking, hiking, river rafting, and
pretty much anything else you want to do.
Do I need to be a wine expert to enjoy this tour?
You definitely don't need to be a wine expert to enjoy this tour. In
fact, you don't even need any knowledge of wines at all. All you need
is an open mind, an ability to discern what you like and don't like,
and an adventurous spirit.
What ability level do I really need to be for this tour?
The Oregon Multisport Wine Adventure is rated for All Abilities.
The hiking is gentle, the biking is gradually downhill, and no
experience is required on any of our activities. We will provide more
difficult challenges for those who wish them but, otherwise, this tour
is designed to be a fun, active, but not challenging trip.
For what type of people would you recommend this trip?
Active wine drinkers. You need not be knowledgeable at all about wine to enjoy this tour; you just need some enthusiasm!
