Hilton Head Frequently Asked Questions
We will send you detailed information about the Adventure in a
Pre-Departure Packet once you register.
What is the weather going to be like?
The average high temperature in May is usally in the upper 70s.
The average low temperature is in the lower 60s. So, be prepared for
warm and pleasant temperatures! While Hilton Head does get a decent
amount of rain, most of it falls in the summer months.
Which time of the year is best to go there?
Both the spring and fall are good times to be on Hilton Head. The
summer can get too hot and be too crowded with tourists.
What is the best way to get to the Camp and where do we meet?
We will meet you on Hilton Head at our hotel, if you are driving or
arriving early. We will meet you at the airport in Savannah, Georgia if
you are flying into the area. There is also an airport on Hilton Head
itself but it generally has higher airfares.
What should I do if I want to extend my vacation in the area?
We spend five days on Hilton Head. However, with its magnificent
beaches it is certainly worthwhile to extend your vacation by staying
an extra night or two on the island. Savannah, Georgia is our gateway
city and a beautifully restored Civil War-era town. For a more active
option in the area, check out some of the other barrier islands by
kayak or bicycle.
What ability level do I really need to be for this tour?
The Hilton Head Skate Camp is rated for Beginners
through Intermediates
. We will have two learning "tracks" at this camp. Beginners
will
start with the absolute basics and no experience is necessary. Advanced
Beginners and Intermediates will already have some comfort
skating
but need not be proficient at braking or other skills.
For what type of people would you recommend this trip?
This trip is perfect for those of you who skate already but need a
little instruction before you are ready for a tour. We
specifically created it for those of you who have already taken one of
our Camp Rollerblade camps.
My spouse (friend, etc) wants to join me but doesn't
want to participate in the skating. Is that possible?
While we naturally encourage everyone to
participate in our skating instruction and trail skating, we do have a
non-skating
option for spouses or friends who just won't put on skates. This option
includes everything but the skating instruction (local transportation,
alternative activities, lodging, meals, etc), as our goal is to include
non-skating participants in the group fun. There are other
activities to do on Hilton Head such as biking, golfing, and tennis and
we will provide this information.
