Montreal & Quebec Frequently Asked Questions

We will send you detailed information about the Adventure in a Pre-Departure Packet once you register.

What is the weather going to be like?
In Montreal in September the average high is 66 degrees while the average low is 50. Unfortunately, it can rain in the area year round (there is no dry season) so be prepared for good skating temperatures with the possibility of showers.

What is the best way to get to the Tour and where do we meet?
You should fly into Montreal Airport (code YUL), a major airport with many airlines and connections. Because we meet at 9:00 AM, you'll need to fly in the night before. When you book your tour, we will provide you with a recommended hotel in Montreal.

What should I do if I want to extend my vacation in the area?
You'll need to spend at least one night on your own in Montreal prior to the tour but many of our skaters and bikers also choose to stay longer afterward. Surprisingly for some, Montreal is actually only two and a half hours from Burlington, Vermont. Renting a car to visit Vermont or the Adirondacks in upper New York would also be a great idea. Quebec City, which is a nice place, is a bit farther away at about three and a half hours by car.

Will I need a passport and visa to visit Canada?
Travelers from the United States and most European countries do not need a visa to visit Canada. American citizens are required to have a valid passport for air travel to Canada and this will apply to land crossings in 2008.

What ability level do I really need to be for this tour?
The Quebec Skating Adventure is rated as for Advanced Beginners and up. The paths are mostly flat and smooth!

For what type of people would you recommend this trip?
This tour will be very popular with those of you who prioritize the skating, since it is excellent on our chosen trails. If you love to travel to Europe but have not been to Quebec, this is your opportunity. If you prefer staying in North America on your travels, this is an excellent opportunity to get a little foreign culture while not going too far from home.
