Yellowstone Frequently Asked Questions

We will send you detailed information about the tour in a Pre-Departure Packet once you register.

What is the weather going to be like?
You should expect warm days, cool nights, and little rain in August.  The average high temperature in August at Old Faithful is 74 degrees Fahrenheit while the average overnight low is only 36 degrees. So, be prepared for cool evenings.  It can rain any month of the year in Yellowstone so also be prepared for a possible shower.

What is the best way to get to the tour and where do we meet?
We meet you at the airport in Billings, Montana.  Billings is served by direct flights from Minneapolis (Northwest), Denver (United and Frontier), Salt Lake City (Delta), Phoenix (America West), and Seattle/Portland (Alaska).  We will send you more detailed information after you book the tour.

What should we do if I extend my vacation in the area?
There is a lot to do in Montana and Wyoming, including the fun town of Cody, the Little Bighorn Battlefield (Custer's Last Stand), and Grand Teton National Park. If you extend your stay, we suggest you rent a car in Billings at the end of the tour.  Even better, join us on our July 11-15 Glacier National Park Hiking Adventure! We will provide you with a free shuttle from Red Lodge to Glacier and back to Billings at the end.

What ability level do I really need to be for this Adventure?
This Adventure is rated For All Abilities. We have multiple options for the hikes and no experience is required for horseback riding and river rafting.

For what type of people would you recommend this Adventure?
This trip is set up as a Family Friendly Adventure.  Kids of any age are welcome but we recommend this for kids ages five to 14.  Adults traveling on their own without kids will also love this trip.  We as guides can vouch for the kids as being the true experts at having fun and it makes this tour special for everyone.
