Rafa Mendiguren

Rafa is the local expert on our Spanish Wine Adventures.  Born and raised in the city of Bilbao, Rafa still lives there today with his wife and his son Alexander.

Although he is a city dweller, Rafa loves to get out into the country - on a bike, on foot, or however. In recent years he has become more and more fascinated with the local wine scene, corresponding with the change in Spanish one from "just the daily drink for men with their meals" (Rafa's words) to the modern, high-quality production that exists today.

Rafa confesses he has had an interest in American and British culture since a child: music, movies, and literature.  This is one reason he loves to meet our groups when they come to Spain!
