Florida has some of the best long-distance skating trails in the United States and certainly the best in any southern state. In fact, Florida's trails are so good for a winter getaway that we have both a Skate Camp for beginners and a Skate Tour scheduled there.

Skate Camp
Our Skate Camp is designed both beginners and advanced beginners.  Since it is late in the year, it is a great camp both for those who have never skated before and those who have graduated from our Hilton Head Skate Camp or Camp Rollerblade day camps. We spend five days in the town of Dunedin, located on the Gulf Coast and one of the nicest towns in Florida.  We learn to skate in our privately-rented outdoor hockey rink and practice our skills on nearby flat trails. This trip meets and ends in Tampa and is designed to be the precursor to our Florida Skating Adventure. If you sign up for the Camp, you will get 10% off the Skating Adventure!

Skating Adventure
Our Florida Skating Adventure is a standard skate tour, designed for all ability levels with multiple route options and van support each day. We start and end at Tampa Airport and skate on four fantastic trails in the Gulf Coast region. The new Sun Coast Trail, which runs near but is separated from a new toll highway, is an excellent example of how transportation funding in America is changing to include alternatives to the car. The 46-mile Withlacoochee Trail cuts through forest and along a river in the middle of the state, while the Withlacoochee Bay trail runs perfectly flat along a canal. Finally, the Pinellas Trail runs through gulf-coast communities in the western part of Florida. Because the trails are flat (perfect for beginners) and long (perfect for advanced skaters), this is a great tour for friends or couples of differing ability levels.

Florida is an outstanding location for a winter getaway. The skating is excellent, the hotels relaxing, and the temperature is in the seventies most days - odds are it will be a sunny day perfect for skating!

Notes
If you sign up for the Skate Camp, you will get 10% off the Skating Adventure! Non-skaters can rent bikes on the Skating Adventure but not the Skate Camp.

Accommodations
On our skate tour, we stay two nights in the lovely Plantation Inn, a southern-style hotel in the Gulf Coast town of Citrus Springs, famous for its manatee population. We then transfer to the Scottish town of Dunedin and the Yacht Harbor Inn, our hotel right on the water with view from your balcony. Three of the top 10 beaches in the country are right in the neighborhood and the sunsets are awesome. The skate camp includes four nights at the Yacht Harbor Inn.
