We have been operating adventures in Yellowstone for three years and exploring the ecosystem on our own for many more. It has everything one needs for a good vacation, no matter how old you are - wild animals, shooting geysers, snowcapped mountains, historic lodges, and breathtaking scenery.

Perhaps 98% of visitors to Yellowstone, however, never get more than 50 feet from pavement on their stay in the park. And that is a shame, because with 2.2 million acres to its name, Yellowstone has much more to offer than just the highly touristed areas.

This is one reason we have chosen Yellowtone to be the location of our first-ever Trekking Adventure in the US.

After meeting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, we travel straight into the southwest corner of Yellowstone for our four-day, three-night trek. Our trek begins in the Southwest corner of the park and ends near the impressive Old Faithful Lodge. This is the Bechler Region, a roadless area full of pine forests, rushing rivers with cascading falls, mountains, hot springs, and wild animals - including grizzly bears and its own wolf pack. We'll be supported by horses, which will carry our food and gear, leaving us free to enjoy the scenery and relish in being practically alone in the wilderness.

This will be hiking like you have probably never done before - fantastic activity during the day followed by campfire-cooked western meals and story swapping by night. We'll definitely see animals and you'll feel like Lewis & Clark as we pass bison, moose, elk, and other animals. Four days would be a long time to go without a shower for some but with natural hotsprings throughout the area, you might find yourself doing just fine. Each day on the trail offers from six to 12 miles of hiking over rolling terrain, with no significant elevation gain or loss.

Our trek finishes with an overnight stay at Old Faithful Inn. We'll toast our trip highlights with champagne and embellish our stories while watching Old Faithful erupt.

Special Note About Wild Animals
There are many wild animals in Yellowstone and some can be dangerous, including moose, bison, and bears. However, as long as we remain smart (and we do) and take precautions (which we do), animals are nothing to worry about and, indeed, are a highlight of the trip. Precautions include carrying bear spray, staying in groups of three or more, and giving animals plenty of space and respect. You'll love the experience.

Accommodations
We spend the first three nights of our trek in the backcountry, sleeping in tents and cooking on stoves. This is a bit more like typical camping than our other Trekking Adventures in that while we have horsemen to help us, we will be responsible for pitching our own tents (with help as needed). You can bring your own sleeping bag or we'll rent one for you; we'll supply the tents. Our final night we return to civilization and sleep in the Old Faithful Inn, right next to Old Faithful itself. Built in 1904, this is the world's largest log structure.
